Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

1. What is sugaring and how is it different from waxing?

Sugaring is a natural hair removal method using a sugar, lemon, and water paste. It removes hair in the direction of growth, which reduces irritation and ingrown hairs. Waxing usually removes hair against the growth and may be more irritating for sensitive skin.

2. Is sugaring better for sensitive skin?

Yes! Sugaring is gentle and less likely to cause redness or bumps, making it ideal for sensitive or allergy-prone skin.

3. How long does a sugaring or waxing appointment take?

Most appointments range from 30 to 60 minutes depending on the area treated (e.g., brows may take 15–20 minutes, full Brazilian about 45–60 minutes).

4. What is a vajacial?

A vajacial is a skincare treatment for the bikini area that exfoliates, soothes irritation, treats ingrown hairs, and hydrates the skin to keep it smooth and healthy.

5. How should I prepare for my sugaring or waxing session?

Make sure your hair is at least ¼ inch long for best results. Avoid heavy lotions or oils on the day of your appointment. Exfoliating a few days prior can help prevent ingrown hairs.

6. How often should I schedule sugaring or waxing appointments?

Hair grows at different rates, but most clients book every 4–6 weeks to maintain smooth skin.

7. Are your products natural or vegan-friendly?

Yes! At Serene and Sugared, I prioritize natural and gentle products whenever possible to support healthy skin.

8. What if I’m new to sugaring or waxing?

No worries! I’ll walk you through the process, answer any questions, and make sure you’re comfortable throughout your visit.

9. What is your cancellation policy?

Please provide at least 24 hours’ notice to reschedule or cancel your appointment. Late cancellations or no-shows may be subject to a fee.

Sugaring vs. Waxing

  • sugaring

    Sugaring

Sugaring is a natural hair removal method using a sugar paste. We apply it to the skin in the opposite direction of hair growth and remove in the direction of hair growth, reducing breakage. It is more gentle on the skin and lasts just as long as waxing, if not longer! This is a great choice for those with sensitive skin or thinner hairs that tend to break with waxing.

  • wax beads

    Waxing

Waxing is the most common form of hair removal. We apply warm wax to the skin, in the direction of hair growth, and then remove. This is a great start for first-timers who don’t have a preference yet. Waxing can easier, at first, for those with thicker, more coarse hairs. This method tends to be more fast on larger surface areas, such as back, legs, arms etc.
